I cannot live without books.–Thomas Jefferson

Meet Your Teacher

My name is Kim Iske, and I will be your guide through the wonderful world of 8th grade Reading!  This is my 10th year in White Oak, and it will be my 33rd year in education.  I hold a BS in Education and an MA in English from the University of Texas at Tyler.  I have taught across Texas in school districts such as Athens, Elysian Fields, Bay City, Stephenville, Grapeland, Scurry-Rosser, and Gladewater, and I have taught at the elementary, middle, and high school  levels.  If I had to pick a favorite grade to teach, it would be 8th.

I grew up in Grand Saline where I met and married my high school sweetheart, Kris–who just happens to be the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for White Oak.   We have been married for 31 years, and we have two children:  Austin is a graduate of WOHS (2016)  and Texas A&M with a Master’s Degree in Finance. (2020)  He and my daughter-in-law, Casee Walker Iske,  (WOHS graduate-2016 and University of Arkansas graduate–2020) live in Lewisville, and they both work in the Dallas area.  My daughter, Anna, is a senior at WOHS where she plays 3 sports (volleyball, basketball, and track), is a flagrunner for the football team, and is currently 3rd in her class.

When I have extra time, I enjoy reading, researching, doing crafts, traveling, and spending time with my family.
